The Saxon Garden in Warsaw is one of the most beautiful and historic places in the capital of Poland. It was founded in the 18th century by order of King Augustus II the Strong and since then it has served as a recreational and cultural place for the city’s inhabitants and its guests.

The Saski Garden covers an area of ​​15.5 hectares and consists of numerous walking paths, historic fountains, a pond with a bridge and various sculptures and monuments. One of the most important attractions is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which is a place of tribute to those who died in defense of the homeland and is an important symbol of national memory.

Among the greenery, the Saxon Garden offers a quiet place to rest in the heart of the city. Numerous benches, beautifully tended flowers and trees provide ideal conditions for recreation in the bosom of nature. The park also has a children’s playground and picnic areas, making it a popular place for family and social gatherings.

The Mermaid Fountain, located at one of the entrances to the garden, is one of the symbols of Warsaw. A mermaid holding a trident stands by a pond, which further enriches the park’s landscape.

How to get to Saski Garden in Warsaw

On foot

You can walk from the Central Station to the Saxon Garden in about 20 minutes.  During the walk, we have the opportunity to admire one of the most majestic buildings in Warsaw – the Palace of Culture and Science.

By car

If you are planning to travel by car, in the vicinity of the Saski Garden you can find parking spaces at Królewska, Marszałkowska and Senatorska streets. It is recommended to use municipal parking lots or paid parking zones to avoid space problems.

 

Public transprt

The Saski Garden can be easily reached by public transport:

  • Metro: The nearest metro station is “Świętokrzyska” (lines M1 and M2).
  • Buses:  Get off at the “Plac Piłsudskiego” (lines 111, 128) or “Królewska” (lines 107, 160) stop.
  • Trams: Get off at the “Marszałkowska” stop (lines 4, 15, 18, 35).
