How to get to Polish History Museum
From the center of Warsaw, go towards Wisła, go through Krakowskie Przedmieście and Nowy Świat, then head towards ul. Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie towards the Copernicus Science Center. The Polish History Museum is located nearby, in the Warsaw Citadel.
The Polish History Museum is located in Warsaw at ul. Gwardii 1 in Żoliborz and in the Warsaw Citadel.
The museum has an underground parking lot (PLN 6 per hour).
Access to the parking lot is only possible from the side lane from the Gdynia Coast, towards the Center. You should exit Wisłostrada before the intersection with ul. Krasiński. The entrance to the parking lots is located directly behind the Fosa i Stoki park.
If you are driving from ul. Krasińskiego, choose the right lane and head towards Śródmieście/Mokotów/Ursynów.

The permanent exhibition at the Polish History Museum (under construction) covers an impressive area of 7,300 m², where approximately 3,600 museum objects will be presented. From this collection, over 2,100 objects come from the museum’s own collection, and visitors will also be able to admire approximately 400 copies and replicas of historical artifacts.
The history of Poland is told through a variety of means, including exhibits, multimedia, scenography and artistic installations.
The central theme of this exhibition is the history of freedom, including Polish parliamentarism, constitutional and republican traditions, as well as the fight for independence and the struggle against totalitarianism. A team of historians from the Polish History Museum, supported by outstanding researchers from leading Polish academic centers, worked on the exhibition scenario.
While visiting the exhibition, you will be able to see places that present the most important events and phenomena from the history of Poland. These include, among others: The Jagiellonian manor, a panorama of the electoral field, a city from the period of the industrial revolution, the Battle of Warsaw in 1920, an underground premises from World War II and the Gdańsk Shipyard from the period of the strike in August 1980.
The opening of the exhibition is planned for 2026.

Polish History Museum
Museum of the History of Poland in Warsaw (MHP) has been established on May 2, 2006 to present key events in Polish history, placing particular emphasis on Polish freedom traditions. After years of searching for a permanent location, the museum opened its doors at the Warsaw Citadel on September 28, 2023. The building with an area of over 44,000 m² consists of four above-ground and two underground floors, offering an exhibition space of 7,300 m².
The museum is equipped with modern educational rooms, an auditorium, conference rooms, a library, catering outlets and conservation workshops. The architecture of the building, designed by the Warsaw studio WXCA, combines symbolic elements of Polish architecture, visible on the façade in the form of reliefs from the Gniezno Doors to 20th-century modernism.
The museum collections include nearly 60,000 objects, including works of art, military items, historical documents, photographs and archaeological finds that illustrate various eras in the history of Poland. The Polish History Museum at the Warsaw Citadel is becoming not only an educational and cultural center, but also an important place for discussion and reflection on national history.
